Rahul keeps up attack on PM ‘Surender Modi’ | India News

NEW DELHI: Congress’s Rahul Gandhi triggered a storm on social media on Sunday as he called Prime Minister Narendra Modi “Surender Modi”, playing on the word ‘surrender’ in the context of China.
Tagging a news report in Japanese media headlined ‘India’s appeasement policy towards China unravels’, Rahul tweeted, “Narendra Modi is actually Surender Modi.” The pun on ‘surrender’ hit home while it was lost on some who thought it was a typo. It spawned memes and controversial posts, keeping social media abuzz. Since the June 15 clashes in the Galwan Valley, Rahul has been accusing the PM of surrendering to China.
Later, he tweeted, “The PM said no one entered the country, nor did anyone take over our land. But satellite photos clearly show that China has captured the sacred land of Mother India near Pangong Lake.”
Congress spokesman Kapil Sibal said, “In the last 53 years, whether it was Nathu La face-off in 1967 or Sumdorong Chu Valley face-off in Arunachal Pradesh in 1986 or Depsang Valley face-off in Ladakh in 2013, Indian Army always forced Chinese Army to retreat.” He said Modi’s “no intrusion” statement had strengthened Chinese conspiracy against India.
